Outside of the archaeological site, curious camels wanted to see what was going on. For those so inclined, this is one way to travel between the pyramids. |

At the main entrance you are greeted by this spectacular sight. To get this picture, I had to be there early. |

The problem is that in the afternoon, when I got to this place with the taxi driver, who entered from a different gate, the face of the sphinx was in the shade. The scaffolding is just a temporary thing. That the chance one takes with archaeological sites that need to be cared for. |

The Sphinx with Khufu's pyramid in the background. Nice, but you can see the problem for the photographer. So be there as early as possible. You notice that a lot of buses get there early and drop the visitors off here. You can also see how close Cairo grew to the Gaza Plateau. |

Same as with my cover picture for Egypt, this is the view you want. So get there early. I was actually a bit late. I got here around the middle of the day. |
